Terms of Use
Plain-language terms for a free, browser-based image tool. By accessing or using CompressImage.ca, you agree to these Terms of Use.
Effective date: June 2026
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of CompressImage.ca, including our image compression, resizing, conversion, metadata, cropping, rotation, and related browser-based tools.
By using CompressImage.ca, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website or the tools.
2. Who operates CompressImage.ca
CompressImage.ca is operated by Kenny B Media from Ontario, Canada. In these terms, “CompressImage.ca,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the website, its tools, and its operator. “You” and “your” refer to the person or organization accessing or using the website.
3. The service
CompressImage.ca provides free, browser-based image tools. The tools are designed to help you compress, resize, convert, crop, rotate, remove metadata from, and otherwise optimize images.
The service is currently provided free of charge and without user registration. We may add, remove, change, suspend, or discontinue any tool or feature at any time.
4. Browser-based image processing
CompressImage.ca is designed so image processing happens locally in your web browser. Your selected image files are not uploaded to, received by, stored on, or processed by our servers.
Because your image files do not reach our infrastructure, we cannot view, recover, restore, edit, delete, or provide copies of your original images or processed output files.
More information about how local processing works is available on our promise page.
5. Your files and ownership
Your files stay yours. These terms do not transfer ownership of your images to us. We claim no ownership rights in the images you process using CompressImage.ca.
Because the tools run locally in your browser and your files are not uploaded to us, we do not need or receive a license to host, store, reproduce, analyze, sell, or share your images.
You are solely responsible for the images you choose to process. You represent that you have the necessary rights, permissions, or lawful basis to use, modify, convert, compress, download, and otherwise process any image you select.
6. Your responsibility for results
Image compression, conversion, resizing, cropping, metadata removal, and similar operations may change file quality, dimensions, colour, transparency, metadata, compatibility, or other characteristics of an image.
You are responsible for reviewing the output before using it. Always keep your original files. Do not rely on CompressImage.ca as your only copy, backup, archive, or storage system.
You are also responsible for deciding whether an output file is suitable for your intended use, including use on websites, marketplaces, social media platforms, print materials, client work, legal documents, business records, or any other purpose.
7. Metadata removal
Some tools may remove or alter metadata embedded in image files. Metadata can include camera information, timestamps, GPS location, copyright details, colour profiles, editing history, accessibility information, or provenance information.
Removing metadata may improve privacy, but it may also remove information you intended to keep. You are responsible for deciding whether metadata should be preserved or removed before using an output file.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse CompressImage.ca. In particular, you must not:
- use the website or tools for unlawful, harmful, abusive, or fraudulent activity;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, damage, or interfere with the website or its infrastructure;
- attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with security-related features;
- use automated scraping, bots, or excessive requests in a way that harms the website or other users;
- reverse-proxy, frame, mirror, resell, or commercially repackage the website as your own service without permission;
- misrepresent your relationship with CompressImage.ca;
- use the website in a way that infringes another person’s intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
9. No account or paid access
CompressImage.ca currently does not require user accounts or paid subscriptions for the free browser tools. If we later introduce accounts, paid services, downloadable software, API access, cloud processing, or file storage, those features may be subject to additional or updated terms.
10. Website content and intellectual property
The website, including its design, branding, text, layout, logos, code, interface elements, and related materials, is owned by or licensed to CompressImage.ca and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may use the website and tools for their intended purpose. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, sell, lease, or create derivative services from the website or its materials except as permitted by law or with our prior written permission.
11. Feedback and suggestions
If you send us ideas, suggestions, bug reports, feature requests, or other feedback, you allow us to use that feedback without restriction or compensation to you. We may use feedback to improve CompressImage.ca, develop new tools, fix issues, or change existing features.
12. Third-party links, ads, and services
CompressImage.ca may contain links to third-party websites, advertisements, documentation, tools, or services. We do not control third-party websites or services and are not responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices, security, accuracy, or terms.
We may display advertising to help keep the tools free. Advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies according to their own policies. Ads do not give advertising providers access to your image files through CompressImage.ca, because your images are processed locally in your browser.
13. Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. Our use of cookies and similar technologies is described in our Cookie Policy.
14. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep CompressImage.ca useful, fast, and reliable, but we do not guarantee that the website or any tool will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, compatible, or error-free.
We may modify, suspend, restrict, replace, or discontinue any part of the website or any tool at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, outage, limitation, or discontinuance of the website or any feature.
15. No professional advice
CompressImage.ca provides technical image tools only. The website does not provide legal, privacy, compliance, copyright, accessibility, marketing, search engine optimization, design, or professional advice.
You are responsible for confirming that your image files and output files meet any legal, platform, client, business, accessibility, or technical requirements that apply to your intended use.
16. No warranty
CompressImage.ca is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties, representations, or conditions of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, representations, and conditions, including warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, availability, compatibility, security, and error-free operation.
We do not guarantee that files processed using the tools will be suitable for your intended purpose, accepted by any third-party platform, free from defects, visually identical to the original, or recoverable after processing.
17. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kenny B Media and CompressImage.ca will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, profits, revenue, business, goodwill, opportunity, or reputation arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the website or tools.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from or related to CompressImage.ca will be limited to twenty Canadian dollars (CAD $20), or the minimum amount permitted by applicable law, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability. In those cases, the limitations above apply only to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
18. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Kenny B Media and CompressImage.ca from and against any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from or related to:
- your use or misuse of the website or tools;
- your violation of these Terms of Use;
- your violation of any law or third-party right;
- any image or file you choose to process using the tools;
- your use, publication, distribution, or sharing of any output file.
19. Suspension or blocking of access
We may suspend, block, limit, or terminate access to CompressImage.ca if we believe a user is violating these terms, creating security risk, abusing the website, interfering with service availability, or using the website unlawfully.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. If we make changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date or last updated date.
Your continued use of CompressImage.ca after updated terms are posted means you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree with the updated terms, stop using the website and tools.
21. Governing law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising from or related to these terms or your use of CompressImage.ca will be handled by the courts located in Ontario, Canada, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
22. General provisions
These Terms of Use, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, form the agreement between you and CompressImage.ca regarding your use of the website and tools.
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue in effect. Our failure to enforce any part of these terms is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our prior written consent. We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations as part of a business transfer, reorganization, merger, sale of assets, or by operation of law.
