Why the output is always PNG
The area outside your rounded corners has to become something, and the only honest answer is transparency. JPG cannot store transparent pixels, so this tool always outputs PNG with a true alpha channel. Drop the result onto any background, light, dark, or patterned, and the corners stay genuinely round instead of carrying little white wedges from a flattened background.
